The Mixed Crops Livelihood Zone in Bong and Gbarpolu Counties is located in the Upper Highland Tropical Forest Agroecological Zone of Liberia and includes most of Kongba, Belleh, Bokomu, Bopolu and Gbarma Districts in Gbarpolu County, most of Fuamah, Sanoyea, Panta and Kokoyah Districts in Bong County and parts of Salala, Zota and Suakoko Districts in Bong County. The Household Economy Approach (HEA) was used.
In the absence of conflict (which was the main hazard between 1989 and 2003), the main hazards that affect crop production in this livelihood zone are pests of various kinds. Excessive rain can also be a problem in this livelihood zone, as well as increases in staple food prices for very poor and poor households.
