This report, written by FEG Consulting, summarizes the main findings of a desk study designed to answer a number of key questions for PEPFAR/Swaziland in preparation for an assessment that aims to identify and plan implementation support for economic strengthening, livelihoods and food security technical assistance activities in Swaziland.

1. Which areas of the country have the least access to food and cash income?
2. Who are the most vulnerable to different shocks and why?
3. What hazards put people at highest risk of food and livelihood insecurity?
4. What are the most important types of employment?
5. To what extent are different households dependent on labor, commodity and staple food markets?
6. What coping strategies do people turn to when faced with rising prices, crop losses or loss of income due to death/illness?
7. Are there opportunities to expand or intensify different sources of income? If so, where?
