The Merhabete Lowland Sorghum and Teff is a predominantly kolla area. The LZ is located at the central part of the country and the southwestern part of Amhara Region. This LZ is entirely found in the North Shoa zone of Amhara Region and it shares a border with the South Wollo zone and Oromia region. The livelihood zone falls in the following administrative woredas: Ensaro, Merhabete, Moretna Jiru, Siya Debirna Wayu, Gera Midir, Keya Gabriel, and Mimo Weremo.
