The aim of the urban livelihoods baseline study was to fill a gap in the knowledge about the livelihoods of the urban poor and to provide detailed information on income, food sources and expenditure patterns of households in the poorer areas of Port-au-Prince. Since the focus of the survey was the urban poor, the assessment took place only in the city’s shanty-towns, known as bidonvilles.
