Four livelihood zones in North Eastern Province were selected for study: West Mandera Agropastoral, Wajir Southern Grassland Pastoral, Garissa Riverine, and Peri-Urban, including former pastoralists in urban Garissa as a sub-zone.
These were felt to represent a good cross-section of livelihood patterns in the province, the information in this report only represents the livelihood zones that were assessed.
Parallel to this HEA exercise, Save the Children conducted a causal analysis of malnutrition, including the minimum cost of a healthy diet, to better understand the underlying causes of malnutrition as well as diet composition and relative access to food for local households (see Annex 2).
